Has anyone else started any “grandma” hobbies this winter?
Back in the fall I needed something to relieve my stress, decrease my scrolling and just in general rest my brain! So I started crocheting, I started several projects but was never happy with my progress. T and I found cheap embroidery kits at Hobby Lobby and finally I found something I could do. I could even take the projects with me to sports events while I waited!
Recently I decided to embroidery my beautiful Bible bag that my family had given me as a gift. Let’s just say it was so much harder than I could have imagined. The material was so thick because it was lined with another fabric. Every stitch I made literally hurt and I could only do a little bit at a time before I physically couldn’t take the pain.
I went to Hobby Lobby 2 more times to purchase different embroidery needles before this first picture. This picture was the point where I was about to give up but I was so upset because I had ruined my Bible bag! I had done enough that I couldn’t easily remove the threads. I had done enough that it would look incomplete and strange.
That last time I bought needles I finally found exactly what I needed! It was larger and made for “thicker” fabric! Yes it was still a little difficult but I was able to finish the project in what felt like no time! I didn’t have to give up and I didn’t have to trash doing something that I loved and gave me enjoyment.
When I finally found the right “tool” I was able to enjoy and not give up on something I really wanted to do!
This made me think so much of myself several years ago when I finally found a Bible I could use! It changed my Bible reading and studying forever.
When I used only my KJV Bible I would give up so easily and I found little to no joy in studying or reading God’s word.
Now I use my NIV Life Application Study Bible and the Bible app to access several different translations. Now I can study for long periods of times, there is no stress, no pain and I look forward to reading my Bible every single day!
If you are struggling reading God’s word please ask yourself if you are using the right “tools”? I promise it can make all of the difference in the world!
Have a blessed day!
